Haha. Go big or go home! Honestly though, I'd want to know if my art was an exact replica of someone else's (famously huge art) before wasting my time.

It kinda sucks, it's like I had this band called the Harlots for like 8 months and we were doing this trash rock NY dolls thing, and one day discovered a signed band called the Harlots who were doing the exact same thing and had label support and like 5 albums. I was kinda like oh...ok. Time to change my style. I kinda see it like that. Peyton's got label support and like 20 albums. En Hong, unfortunately, has to change her band name.

sasha, ive gotta say that im a bit intimidated that you posted this. if it were me, i think i just would've dismissed it, but youre publicly holding people accountable with comparative images and junk. serious art balls.

To her credit, there are a couple images on her site that address slightly different subjects- there are one or two that have what looks to be childhood photos from Korea. But yeah, the pretty red-lipped boys and rock stars....my advice would be...if she loves Peyton's style, to maybe recontextualize it to new ends. Wouldn't it be a little more interesting (slightly) if she drew, say, Korean rock stars?

If she mined from other sources, I'd be less put off too.

You're right Drew. I think it's not the technique but the subject matter that bothers me most. It looks identical. I myself have artists that I borrow from but this is highway robbery.

i would be almost inclined to forgive it if the subject matter differed in even a small way... but yeah, i agree.

That's an exact copy. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. En Hong is a good painter but she needs to find her own voice.
