Charlie White’s work has always intrigued me. Since 1999 he has used a variety of methods to create eerie photographs that look like stills taken out of a horror movie.

 

This new body of work is a surprising departure from the previous work but still has the eerie feel that White’s work is known for. I couldn’t find much online about the series but the titles say a lot. The series is called ” Teen and Transgender Comparative Study.”

Video and performance artist Kevin Gaffney directed this trippy music video for a Japanese popstar figure Pseudo Nippon that is almost all equal parts Snoop Dog’s “Sexual Seduction”, Gunther’s “Ding Dong Song” and “Vermillion Pleasure Night” (sort of a Japanese version of MadTV or Saturday Night Live… but more fantastical). Feel free to Google any of these listed, you won’t be disappointed.

 

I think I heard Pseudo Nippon sing this chorus in his song: “If you want war, I’ll eat your family. If you want peace I’ll still eat your family”….ummm…epic!!

Dont be fooled by the thousands of tiny ski-masks! There is no guise in the art of Bryan Schnelle. The shiny black laquer paint makes me think of the rubber bed sheets in my sexroom.
