Preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, is a round the clock job. Mr. McDreamy Patrick Dempsey found this out for himself as he prepared to race on Porsche’s team. Porsche’s clever video features Dempsey and his racing partner Patrick Long and follows them on their final preparations over the 24 hours before the race at their little chateau in the middle of France. Practice makes perfect so these two are always prepared for a driver change whether it is at the breakfast table, in the study, or even in bed.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is one of the hardest endurance races in the world- it requires passion, training and mental fortitude. Dempsey enjoys the challenge and being part of the Porsche family, “It’s an incredible family, a talented family with a lot of depth when it comes to technology, engineering and design. It fills me with pride to now be a part of this family.”
All their training paid off as their All-American driving team of Patrick Dempsey, Joe Foster and Patrick Long, scored a competitive fourth-place GTE-AM finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Dempsey says of Le Mans, “I think, for me, the Le Mans challenge mentally is the biggest. Staying focused, not worrying about what was going on around me but to just focus on the job at hand. Once you got in the car, quite honestly, that was the easiest thing to deal with. I was more relaxed in the car than I was out of it. I do get sleep but it is not the same as when you are not at the track. Everything is so much more intense at a 24-hour race, and that includes even your sleep, but I am able to do it.”
