Paint My Album

Paint My Album

I think the world would be a better place if all album covers were done in Microsoft Paint…maybe not…but every single one of these remade album covers has made me laugh and that’s worth something. Diramuid and Anthony the founders of “Paint My Album” have gotten over 1,800 album covers redone. Submit your own primitive (or fanciful, depending on your MS Paint skills..) recreation at [email protected]

Inka Järvinen is an illustrator/designer from Helsinki.  Järvinen works mostly in detailed collage’s, her output is dark, as she draws inspiration from the old sci-fi aesthetic of the future in the 1960′s and 1970′s. I love her illustrations and simple use of color.

Nate Page

Nate Page

I’m loving these carved magazines by artist Nate Page . Page uses methods of drawing and assemblage to create these paper landscapes. It’s such a simple and powerful idea! I’m a big fan of this series, but some here at Beautiful/Decay think it looks like “bad sand art…” but I’d have to disagree, at the very least it’s ‘cool’ sand art.

Daniel Almeroth

Through his series, “The Birth of Feminism,” Daniel Almeroth shows the symbolic events that occurred before and after this political movement. In each piece he is trying to portray the way women were controlled by men through many different aspects of society and the path women of this time took to gain equality among men.  I really enjoy his use of colors for this subject matter. The color palette is unexpected and I feel he could have taken a much different approach to such a serious political movement in our history, but I love the path he chose to take for this series.
