Craig Redman

TheSkyIsBlack

A man of many talents, Craig Redman is a New York based illustrator, typographer, pattern artist, installation artist, sculptor, animator, designer, and art director. A list worthy of comparison would be his equally long list of well-known clients, such as, MTV, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Apple, Vogue, Converse, and The New York Times. And this may be overkill, but Craig not only has exhibited in various parts of the world, but he also exhibited at the Louvre, Paris (every artist’s dream!)

While we have many reasons to envy Craig Redman, we can also take solace in the fact that all of his accomplishments are well deserved. Craig’s diverse talents are immediately visible in his vibrant, smart, and secretly optimistic work.

Radames “Juni” Figueroa

RadamesFigueroa1

Today I was perusing the website of Proyectos Ultravioleta, a Guatemala based gallery, and found the work by Radames “Juni” Figueroa. Besides a sweet painting of a mustachiod Dracula rocking a cape and a Misfits shirt (dream babe, hello!) I found the above readymade installation. Lo and behold, I discovered a Beautiful/Decay apparel shirt we did with Rob Thom shirt we did from four years ago! Sweet! While we’ve since sold out of that shirt, Radames, if you’re listening, we did a re-make of the Bad Brains classic cover art work (now re-christened Decayed Brains) which is for sale on our online shop. If you care to make another installation work out of our T-shirts. Really great work….check out more after the jump!

Book Artist, Jody Alexander

WRAPPEDWORDS001 I am in awe of Jody Alexander… one could spend hours sifting through a single work by this book & installation artist. Librarian by day, book & installation artist by night, the Santa Cruz artist is incredibly detailed in her execution – teetering on the obsessive – and sparks in the onlooker, a childlike curiosity. Awesome Video Of The Day: Light Bulb Music

Not sure if I would categorize Michael Vorfeld’s performance as “music” but it’s an interesting installation incorporating sound & light.

On another note It might be taboo to say this but I find it hard for myself to get into noise art or noise music in general. What do you guys think? Is noise just noise or more?

Kilian Rüthemann

KILIANR THEMANNKilian Rüthemann was born in 1979 in Bütschwil, St. Gallen, Switzerland. Kilian always engages with the given situation of an exhibition space. He investigates the architectural and spatial qualities and in a surprising manner and makes precise, generally minimal interventions into the existing structure. Pretty neat.

Matthias Männer

Mattias mannerMatthias Männer was born in 1976 in Mitterteich, Germany. His organic-like figures are based on simple geometrical forms and are mostly prototypes or models for hypothetical monumental sculptures. On account of their dimensions, true execution would be utopian.

Sveinn Davidsson

Sveinn Davidsson

Icelandic designer Sveinn Davidsson has garnered some much deserved attention as of late, mostly for his work with demolished cars. Although most of his press has stemmed from the signage and promotional work in the ‘Cargate’ project for the ’07 Iceland Academy of the Arts graduation exhibition, I find his typographic work to be the most impressive. Davidsson’s typographic designs and logo designs are all so clean and polished, but not that sterile type of design that lacks the human touch, he adds illustrations to his type showcasing his capabilities with a pen and a mouse.
