Klaus Pichler’s Food Decay Images Shed Light on Global Food Waste

Klaus Pichler’s One Third project explores the wasteful nature of food consumption. Rotting food, arranged into elaborate still life’s, portrays an abstract picture of wastage of food.  According to the UN one third of the world’s food goes to waste- the largest part thereof in the industrialized nations of the global north. Equally, 925 million people around the world are threatened by starvation.  Pichler’s series describeds the connection between individual wastage of  food and globalized food production.
