McDonalds X Graffiti- A One Sided Collaboration

Apparently McDonalds is embracing graffiti with full force and using it as part of their greasy interior decoration. This is only happening in France and Japan so far but  if we’re lucky we’ll have some graffiti wallpaper in the Boise Idaho stores in no time. What’s worse than graffiti in the crappiest fast food spot on earth you ask? Graffiti in the crappiest fast food spot on earth being used without the artists permission or compensation. Sure the graffiti writers didn’t ask for permission to paint your city streets but something about this just doesn’t feel right. Next thing you know we’re going to be eating  a McBansky or a Space Invader fries. What do you think? Should the artists get compensated or can Mcdees do as they please?

Fintan Magee’s Street Art Installations

Fintan Macgee’s work is an interesting mix of street art and installation. My favorite works are the ones featuring the piles of both painted and real trash bags. When I lived in NYC I used to always take photos of the piles of trash that show up in Manhattan at the end of the day. I figured I’d do something with the images one day but apparently Fintan beat me to the punch.

Awesome Video Of The Day: Ultimate Form Of Street Art

This has to be the ultimate piece of street art. Not only can you stick it to the man by removing corporate companies messages off of billboards and other video based ads but you can put up whatever you like in its place. Maybe a video of you doing your favorite dance move, sleeping, or  better yet an image of the stars and sky that you would see if the massive eyesores weren’t there. I’m curious to see where advances in technology and street art will take us. What do you think? Watch the full video after the jump.

***UPDATE!*** Well looks like the jokes on me. There is another version of this video where the guy says he is on a drug right before he starts talking. Apparently this is a viral video for a new movie called Limitless. Guess the man stuck it to me in the end! Damn It!

Broken Fingaz Crew

A straight acid trip. Broken Fingaz Crew has captured the eye with their vibrant, colorful, in your face artwork. Infused with artful humor, I chuckled at some pieces as my eyes were immersed in this cauldron of comic book style color. “Our dreams are your nightmares”; a tagline that speaks volumes about their work.

Alsa Cherie- Tribute to Daniel Balavoine

From my understanding, Daniel Balavoine was a french singer popular in the 1980s. Alsa Cherie sent us some street art that was posted in Gap in the High Alps. Poetic lyrics taken from Balavoine’s songs that if translated to English would butcher such a romantic language.

The Seattle Gum Wall

Seattle-bubble-gum-wall8

If you’re like my best friend Agnes, who is such a germaphobe that she brings with her cleaning equipment on any of our vacation trips, then this post will disturb your very soul. Presenting the Seattle Gum Wall! Falling in 2nd place (after Ireland’s Blarney Stone) as voted by Tripadvisor to be one of the world’s most germ infested tourist attractions. The Gum Wall came to be in the early 1990′s when people, waiting in line to purchase theater tickets, started to stick their chewing gum to the wall to pass the time. You may be wondering why hasn’t anyone tried to clean this up in the first place, well the theater attendants have – twice! They gave up in 1999 when the wall became an official Seattle tourist attraction. I (being a notorious gum addict) must visit this wall to contribute… with Agnes and her endless stock of Purell.
