Beautiful/Decay presents a month-long series of art-based films to screen at the brand new Space 1520. This selection of films showcases a stunning array of creative concepts and ideas.
We kick off with Loic Prigent’s behind-the-scenes documentary, “Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton” delving into Marc Jacobs’ busy creative life, and featuring appearances by Victoria Beckham, Uma Thurman and other fashion-forward Hollywood starlets. The concept of art-stardom, hot commodity and celebrity continues with “Basquiat,” examining the 19 year old street artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (Jeffrey Wright) that quickly took New York’s high art world by storm in an unprecedented meteoric rise. “Who the #$&% Is Jackson Pollock?” takes a more tongue-in-cheek look at the inner workings of the stuffy art elite through the eyes of a beer-drinking, sailor-mouthed woman who may have accidentally purchased a Pollock from a thrift store. Finally, we present “Rivers and Tides,” an otherworldly documentary that follows renowned sculptor Andy Goldsworthy as he transforms and harnesses the elemental forces of ice, driftwood, rivers, and forests into works of ethereal and transient beauty.
This is a one of a kind opportunity to watch these movies outdoors and on the big screen! Popcorn and drinks will also be served.
