geharddemetz_2 Gehard Demetz was born in 1972, in Bolzano, Italy. Currently he lives and works in Val Gardena on these amazing woodcarvings. His vision is on point, and his work is nothing short than breathtaking. Check it out.

Oh wow. Beautiful in their realism and ferocity of emotion and suggestion. I would like to see some images of how these works are created. There is clearly some depth of craftsmanship as well as vision, here, and I would love to know more about their physical production. Please tell.

No lo se, no acaba de convencerme la expresión de las caras y el cuerpo, un artista en madera trabaja para transmitir una emoción y éstas esculturas están demasiado expresivas, parecen photoshop

Nice but,
take a look at the work of Donald Harn from Taiwan it will really blow you away. An amazing intersection concept, expression material, and virtuosity. Harn has already been carving for 30 years. Demetz is clearly a young kindred spirit.

These are beautiful. I love the eyes. Some people teach to hollow out the eyes and I disagree. I think they should be done like yours. Great imagination and an interesting twist to sculptures.

The artist will probably make several pencil sketches and photographs from life before making a clay sketch for your approval. Once this is done the artist will continue to refine the sketch if it is of the correct dimensions, or will start afresh and scale up the model using the first clay sketch as a guide.
