aka…. (Bong Rips, Magical Potions, Mystical Flora and Avatars) is the pretty amazing title of our very own B/D founder & Creative Director Amir H. Fallah’s upcoming exhibition at Baer Ridgway Exhibitions. In case you couldn’t tell, the show pretty much deals with all things next level stoner awesome, from new age crystals to plants mourning their own existential crises. If you happen to be in SF, the show opens January 9th, 4p-7pm and runs until February 13th.

In 2007, Kurt Franz traveled on a bus across America and Western Europe studying city peripheries where construction and entropic sites become a common occurrence. Along the way he picked up enough materials to make some intriguing work.

Ahh, the polaroid- the quick flash, shake, peel and voila of the beloved instantaneous image-maker is the timeless trope of countless cheesy grins. In our simulacra-riddled copy of a meta-copy digital age, there is something sincere in an entirely unique and irreplacable analog copy of a photo. Sure, I have thousands of digital files amassed on my computer. But the photos that I cherish are mostly those small, square little guys called polaroids, or to use their proper name, Instant Land Photography. With polaroid’s impending death nearing, thankfully someone has taken a stand. ISM Community will be opening an entirely polaroid exhibition entitled “Instant Gratification” at Copro Gallery this Saturday, from 7 to 11pm. With hundreds of ceiling to floor polaroids, the exhibition creates awareness about this waning art form. Flyer and more polaroids after the jump!

Christine Gray’s paintings might seem playful at first, but a closer look reveals ominous mythical undertones. Woven dreamcatchers, desolate landscapes, and lightning in the sky… something else is definitely going here. So we got an email from Mr. Matt Manos of B/D internship fame, regarding UCLA’s Design Media Arts Undergrad show on Jan 14th. In his words: “what is funny is that me, Kate Slovin, and Corinna Loo are the ones curating it. Also what is funny is that I designed the poster for it and Greg Ruben took the photo for the poster. Also, Cameron Charles will be in attendance. So the show is basically reigned upon by B/D alumni.” Well yay, B/D alumni! More official text after the jump….
