Chrissie Abbott’s work reminds me of something you’d see while rummaging through psychedelic album covers at a record store. I dig it! I love the mixture of black and white photography and colorful elements. She has done work for Little Boots, Nylon, and New York magazine.
Lee Misenheimer’s work uses very basic media– a lead pencil or ball point pen and off white paper– but he creates awesome illustrations with intense detail. He derives inspiration from Japanese art as well as organic textures, mushrooms, air, and wind. He has openly admitted to have repetitive line syndrome and after a long break from art, he’s back!
No trip to SF is complete without visiting St. Francis Fountain, the ultimate brunch spot. I ordered the wrong thing and my server was cool enough to bring me the right stuff without gruff. I felt like I should have given him some B/D shirts or a book but I didn’t have anything with me. I have no idea what his name was but someone reading this blog has to know him. Blonde dude with tats who looked like a surfer/skater type and was wearing a hat with the rim bent back ala Suicidal Tendencies style.
