New York based artist Amy Hill modernizes the Renaissance. As you can see from the majority of her work, Amy draws her inspiration from fifteenth century Flemish painters. I really enjoyed her Bohemian series.
Okay guys if you’ve never heard of Pipilotti Rist you need to check her out. Not only is she a really good video artist but she has quite possibly created the most magnificent chandelier ever! She created it using pieces of underwear that she collected from her family and friends. Not only is it an underwear chandelier, but it’s glowing too. Chandeliers don’t get much cooler than that my friends.
Italian Artist Willy Verginer is a master of wooden sculpture. Simply put, his work is beautiful. He has a gift of bringing sculpture to life and compliments it with his unique sense of color and style.
If you attended one of the previous annual Animation Shows, you may have seen Run Wrake’s short animation “Rabbit” (and me!) From the show, Run Wrake’s film was one of my favorites. He used elements from the classic Dick and Jane books to weave an equally classic tale of greed and it’s horrible consequences. I love how, just like in the Dick and Jane books, everything in every scene is accurately labeled.
I came across photographer Paola de Grenet’s photo series, “Albino Beauty,” today. Her figures are ethereally beautiful, almost sculptural.
It is very bad that I am writing about PES today, going into his website, watching his very entertaining and creative videos.. while I am at work here at B/D. It is all very distracting. I love how he finds use for any random object into something recognizable – yet not immediately obvious. I would have never thought of clown cake decorations to stand in for explosions. I could watch these all day.
We received href=”http://www.artnet.com/artist/3162/glenn-brown.html”>Glenn Brown’s exhibition book in the mail today. This book is filled with Glenn’s portfolio of sculptures and paintings from three separate shows. Completely filled with thick, goopy paint.
