Ana Janssen’s erie hyperrealistic paintings remind me of the calm before a storm. In most of the work young teenagers sit still and stare at the viewer with an intense gaze while various animals sit on their shoulders, lay in their lap, or attempt to take a bite out of the figures hand.

Laura Crosta has a plethora of work in her portfolio but her balloon series is one of my favorites. Also make sure to check out the “I Date A Hooker” series which documents Jeff Fischer’s dating highlights with hookers.
A message from The Savants Collective: There are images found in the human unconscious that mean similar things to all of us. By understanding these images, it is possible to analyze our dreams and to learn from them. Our life experiences influence our interpretation of these images and as a result each person’s dream is unique to them and can only be truly understood by them.
Russian illustrator Sasha Blosyak‘s wacky illustrations are full of funky patterns, bizarro characters, and surreal happenings.

New York based lifestyle photographer Peter Zander takes intimate and emotional photographs. We’re especially enjoying his Senior series.
Bryant Park, located about a block East of Times Square in Manhattan, has been home to a several fun contemporary/public art projects recently. Right now, they’re hosting the “Battle of the Brush.” Which happens to include alumni of the Beautiful/Decay Studio Visits: Alison Blickle and Tom Sanford. It’s based around the idea of a civil war reenactment, except instead of the North and South, it’s between abstraction and figuration. Bryant Park was a campground for soldiers during the Civil War, so that’s where the whole Civil War thing comes in. Personally, I just like the paintings… It’s coming down this Wednesday, Feb 2nd, so get over there asap. The show was curated by Corporate Art Solutions.
Sunday is a day of rest but if you’re like me you can’t sit still for 5 seconds. So lets kick off the day right with a fun action packed music video for B. Fleischmann created by Saman Keshavarz. Watch the full video filled with lo-fi stunts, animation, and stop motion goodness after the jump.
I have absolutely no idea what Sasquatch Birth Journal 2 is this is but you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll WTF! It says that it’s part of the Sundance Film Festival but who knows. It may be a bizarre teaser for a film or some creative agencies latest viral vid. It’s made by Zellner Bros but I’m not really sure who they are. In any case it’s totally bizarre so I thought I’d share. If anyone has any info on what this is all about please do share. I’m officially intrigued. Enjoy!
