Jansson Stegner’s Long Stretch

Jansson Stegner’s work could easily have turned into your typical figurative work but the strange elongation of the figures gives the work a bizarre psychological twist. It’s kind of a mix between Balthus and John Currin.

Not bad. Interesting figures and concept, but the level of painting is not quite there yet. I think this series might be really interesting in a few years

    Eric,
I’ve seen these in person and they are actually extremely well painted. They are very juicy oil paintings. You should check them out in person if you get a chance.

    Amir,
Most paintings do look quite a bit different in person than when photographed, and don’t question the talent of the artist. To me they seem well made, but they just seem to lack a bit of intangible “umph” in the photos. Maybe that just doesn’t translate well.

Im wondering if anyone else has seen them in person….
