Brent Birnbaum is an artist with one hell of a sense of humor. To commemorate the 2o year anniversary of Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby single (the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts) Brent created the alter ego Ice Ice Maybe. Find a recap of the performance and his recreation after the jump.
Marci Macguffie’s work ride the line between relief sculptures and wall paintings. My favorite works are her When Animals Attack series (pictured above) which have a great playful nature to them while dealing with issues of space and abstraction.
The Adventures of SuperM is a three part spoof film by Lithuanian filmmaker Arunas Eimulis inspired by Turkish trash movies of the 70s. Watch SuperM beat up graffiti vandals, fight car thieves, and battle the Army of Barefoots! All three videos are posted after the jump for your viewing pleasure.
Mike Ruiz presents us with the ultimate (and completely not real) luxury collaboration. The funny thing about this is that it isn’t too far fetched. I can see it now, hundreds of sneaker heads waiting for days in line around their Mercedes dealership for the chance to drive the Michael Jordan Jumpman.
Brooklyn based Pierre Botardo’s collages of possessed ladies, satanic rituals, and naked wolf ladies are right up my alley.
Tricia Cline’s delicate sculptures in porcelain reveal a world where the lines between animals, nature, and man are blurred.
