I couldn’t help but direct everyone to fellow public art loving blog Street Art Utopia as they have compiled a pretty decent list of the best street art of 2011. If you are just getting into the wonderful world of pasting, spraying or making the streets a more creative place, this list is a great place to start (short of Wall and Piece). One of the best things about this genre is it’s diversity – you can decided what you find gimmicky/twee or meaningful and awe-inspiring. Street art has always been the public’s voice, and the art world has yielded success to those with great ideas and a call for change. More from the list after the jump!

Awesome? Hmm. The second picture is profound, the third is witty, the 4th chaotically beautiful. The 5th picture is strikingly visceral. I likes the bikes. I find the wrapped trees tacky and the warning ominous.
If you were standing near the girl on the swing and gazed up to see what the swing was hanging from, you may well experience a moment of awe.
Fortunately none are anything “like a boss”.

Loved the pictures.Amazing and fun. As a fiber arts artist, I liked the trees with the knitted cobwebs.Very imaginative. Mom
The last one is clever, how could you not smile at everyone after reading that?
The sixth picture (the hand) is clearly photoshopped… you can tell by looking at where the base of the hand is somehow visible where it should be underwater. Number 7 is questionable b/c it looks weird where the bikes overlap the plants. The rest of these are sweeeet (given that they are real).. fake ps’d street art makes others lose creds, please beware
