Brent Birnbaum is an artist with one hell of a sense of humor. To commemorate the 2o year anniversary of Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby single (the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts) Brent created the alter ego Ice Ice Maybe. Find a recap of the performance and his recreation after the jump.

I’m loving this completely bizarre music video by Luci Schroder for Melbourne based electronic group Alpine where young girls make out with axes, themselves, the tv, watermelons, fish in swimming pools, and eat ice cream floats in jacuzzis. Watch the full vid after the jump.
It’s not everyday that we post an artist who works with yarn but Jo Hamilton’s crochet portraits are really interesting. I’m really happy that Jo decided to not over finish these and left them without a background and with the yarn hanging down. Sort of looks like paint drips and adds another dimension to the work that you don’t see often in crochet.
Swiss based Sandrine Pelletier creates amazingly dark sculptures and installations. Check out the death metal kinetic diorama, lace skeletons, and broken mirror skate ramp after the jump.
It’s really hard to pull off a painting with a white center but somehow Greg Bogin has done it. With a minimal amount of paint and some carefully shaped canvases greg manages to create beautiful work that packs a powerful punch. It also doesn’t hurt that he jam packs his work with one of my favorite things in life…gradients!

Los Angeles based painter and all around good guy Leo Eguiarte recently updated his site full of hyper colored paintings that will have you feeling like you just took 50 hits of acid. Nice work Leo, keep them coming!
