XVALA is the artist behind the #FearGoogle campaign, which caused him to be rife with controversy when he put up wheat pastes featuring nude photos of Scarlett Johansson. However, for the past year, he’s been working on a much larger project, in which he went digging through celebrity’s trashcans to re-purpose their discarded objects into art. Early on in his gatherings though, Forbes Magazine received leaked information that he had been to both Steve Jobs’ and Mark Zuckerberg’s residences – where he discovered one of Zuckerberg’s coat hangers and had it fabricated into an almost indestructible phallic sculpture.
After the article came out, XVALA went into a state of isolation and became extremely secretive about revealing which celebrities he was also going to be including in his series. So, even when I interviewed him a month ago, he was very vague on the details of his upcoming show. His only clue for me was that there would be one featured celebrity that no one knew about yet, and that whoever it was, was an entrepreneur of some kind.
So, it’s with great pleasure that I’m finally able to reveal that the featured celebrity of XVALA’s upcoming show, is none other then Kim Kardashian. He has already had several Polaroid photos of her printed onto huge sheets of aluminum, as well as a deflated basketball he found in her bin that has since been made into a limited series of resin editions. And all of the pieces that I’ve seen so far, have what XVALA refers to as glory-holes on them, which are his comment on the voyeuristic nature of fame.
The one-night only showing of his work, The Kim Kardashian Party, will take place on March 17th at 1460 Naud St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. And it is definitely not an evening to be missed, especially since I have been informed that Kim has been invited, even though they are still awaiting her RSVP.
