Artist Interview: ZANE LEWIS AND HIS SHATTER PAINTINGS

Artist Zane Lewis, an elusive and evolving talent, has reemerged within the New York art scene with a fresh and new aesthetic. When you stand before one his newest works, among the Shatter Paintings collection, you are presented with a kaleidoscopic garden of glass, a reflective playground for the eyes. With a minimal, neo-conceptual execution, his mirrored “paintings” offer a glistening ensemble of hued splendor. A discourse between notions of the “natural” and the “industrial”- due to organic reflections coupled with pre-fabricated found material- engages the viewer. Lewis also adds a twist to this aesthetic, in that each painting subtly renders human abstractions of life, death, and wraith of the intangible.

Pablo Boffelli’s Colorful Perception

Argentinian artist Pablo Boffelli visualizes a mysterious world deep into the depths of a modern technology age concerning amusing future civilizations through a humanistic combination of drawing and collage. Atypical colors layer on top of various textures and mediums in an abstract yet sensible way; drawing forth an inspection toward themes and ideas that aren’t usually explored.

Ill-Studio’s Greatest Abilities

Whether it’d be through art or design, France is the top destination to go to for any interested in construction and ingenuity with an urge for color experimention. Ill-Studio (founded in 2007) truly belongs to this cognition. Ill represents a collective of talented individuals headed by Léonard Vernhet and Thomas Subreville under one pretty ‘sick’ name.  The group experiments with shapes (a combination of both geometric and organic), thin and thick lines, and bold color saturation. Art-direction, photography, design, motion design, and typography are their greatest abilities; to describe the least.

Artist Interview: Rick Silva

There’s no question that GIFs have had a long history on the Internet. We’ve been accidentally stumbling upon them for as long as we can remember. Usually, when we think of GIFs we usually don’t take it too seriously. Besides… the majority of them out there almost always include blinged-out text paired with unsightly some imagery. However, with the extreme popularity of Tumblr, GIF art has become the new and popular medium. Calgary, Canada’s Rick Silva’s has put his personal creativity into this art form; making sure to incorporate a balance between real-life landscape imagery and digital web geometry.

Friends With You NYC Opening

Adorno once said, “Those who peruse art solely with comprehension make it into something straightforward, which is furthest from what it is. If one seeks to get a closer look at a rainbow, it disappears.” Respectively, I am going to have to disagree with his insightful assertion. That is, after experiencing the FriendsWithYou New York city take over this past week. The emotional and visual experience of FriendsWithYou art on display starting this past week proved that artwork can be successfully and simply straightforward, while still perpetuating depth within its comprehension. Furthermore it was proven that sometimes, the rainbow doesn’t have to disappear.
