Fellow Angelino and UCLA Alumn, Liz Craft, really encapsulates what I believe to be the spirit of Los Angeles. Motorcycles, Middle Fingers, Cacti growing amongst discarded tires, and let’s not also forget about those swanky rollerskaters over on Venice boardwalk–all very LA. Her work has multiple reads that oscillate between serious and humor. Liz Craft also happens to be featured in our latest release, Beautiful/Decay Book:5 “Psychonauts”. And like finding parking in LA, Book: 5 is scarce (Less than 200 copies left). Be sure to pick up your copy today and discover 20 full color pages of Liz Craft plus other amazing Psychonauts.

These amazing sculptures by Lauren Clay are composed completely out of thousands of pieces of hand cut paper. She uses the most delicate, humble material and through obsessive craftsmanship creates shimmering anti-monuments to art’s glorious past. If you love her work (of course you do!) and want to see more (why wouldn’t you?!) we have a 15 page feature including tons of beautiful images and an interview in Beautiful/Decay Book 5. Pick up a copy, they’re going fast!
In Beautiful/Decay Book 5: Psychonauts we raise our anchor and set sail on an unknown voyage with seven featured artists whose work pushes the possibilities for consciousness within contemporary art. They each work in various mediums and conceptual frameworks but all share a common interest in the human condition. In addition to the features, we also invited 14 artists from around the world to create original work for our psychonaut project pages. The results are extremely unique and anything but predictable. Book 5 also includes a die-cut sticker created by artist, Gunsho.
With a limited edition run of only 1,000 books, 800 copies have already been sold which means that only 200 copies remain. Once Book: 5 sells out it will not be reprinted so stop waiting and reserve your limited edition copy today.
Polaroids by photographer Katja Sonnenwend retain the nostalgia of the medium while adding a lovely freshness.
Photographer Tommy Nease’s “Exploration of the Supernatural” series captures a truly unearthly reality.
Wonderful, unique work in a variety of media by artist Andreco.
I absolutely love the stuff illustrator and designer Mike Lythgoe is making; it’s lavish and dreamy and somehow clean and meticulous at the same time.
