I’m always pleasantly surprised by the great work that artists post to our Flickr Creative Pic Pool. This time around I present the work of Brendan Lee Satish Tang . The images in this post come from Brendan’s Manga Ormolu series which “enters the dialogue on contemporary culture, technology, and globalization through a fabricated relationship between ceramic tradition (using the form of Chinese Ming dynasty vessels) and techno-Pop Art.” You can read more about Brendan’s work on his site and see a few previous bodies of work.
If you would like to possibly featured on the B/D blog make sure to join our flickr pool. You never know who we’ll pick next!
After a full day at the studio last Saturday I popped into the opening for Default State Network, a new show opening at Raid Projects curated by NYC based artist Ryan Wallace. I’m always a fan of artist curated shows and DSN does not disappoint with a great mix of painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture that will excite anyone looking for a mix of craft and concept.
It’s Monday once again and my head is in the clouds so why not start the week with a bizarre and funny video from Sondre Lerche. I’m not sure if Sondre is a nutty dude or has taken one too many hits of acids but judging by his home made suit of armor, post hippie group choreography, and fat guys in elvis style outfits flying through the air that something just isn’t right in his creative head. I’ve known El Kamino for more than 15 years having shared many memories of painting graffiti during our youth. He’s a hard character to pin down as he rarely makes public appearances and prefers lurking in the shadows than using technology to promote his work. That’s why I was blown away when he made this very rare appearance on camera to discuss his work and his process. Enjoy!
