British composer Anna Meredith just released her debut, Black Prince Fury EP on limited edition vinyl from the Vinyl Factory/Moshi Moshi in the UK. It’s limited to only 300, so if you want one, you better act fast. You can stream the full version of Nautilus and check out the animated video via Noisey, directed by Tony Comely.
If you haven’t heard of Sky Ferreira yet, that will soon change because she will be everywhere. I was lucky enough to catch her first ever live performance last month at the Bootleg and while she was visibly nervous, the songs sounded great. Now we get the chance to preview her Ghost EP (official release October 16th on Capitol Records ) that Cass McCombs, Jon Brion, and Greg Kurstin all helped produce. Don’t forget to check out the obligatory Terry Richardson photo and the video for Everything is Embarrassing after the jump.
Recently nominated for a Mercury Prize, ∆ (Alt-J) is stepping up venues on their next tour of the West Coast. LA’s Fonda Theatre will have them on December 12th which is sure to be a quick sell out. I recently saw them at the Bootleg Theatre and they have really come a long way since their US debut at School Night in Hollywood earlier this year. I’ve been listening to their album, An Awesome Wave since it was released in the UK this past May, thanks Rough Trade! Even though one of my friends thinks the singer sounds a little like Elmer Fudd, the music is infectious. Check out the video for Breezeblocks after the jump and buy your tickets ASAP for their show at the Fonda at Ticketmaster.
It’s been sometime since we’ve heard from Natasha Khan’s Bat For Lashes, but that all changes on Oct. 23 when her new album, The Haunted Man is released in the US on Capital Records. The Guardian has a preview of six songs that I’ve been listening to on repeat . She’s playing a handful of shows in Europe in the next couple of months so definitely try to see her live if you can. What do you think of the cover photo by Ryan McGinley?

Los Angeles’ own Lord Huron released their debut album yesterday, Lonesome Dreams on IAMSOUND Records. The good people at NPR Music have the whole record streaming so you can listen before you buy it. I caught them this past August when they opened for CULTS at MOCA and loved the new songs. Check out their video for Time to Run and grab a ticket to one of their upcoming live performances, you won’t be disappointed.
