Prominent homoerotic artist Sadao Hasegawa’s amazing work. His work combined cultural icons from all over Asia: his native Japan, Thailand, Bali and India, creating graphically and sexually compelling images.
Skote disrupts your normal routine. Founded in 2006 by artists Jill Pangallo and Alex P White, Skote is a performance collaboration dedicated to the value of artistic play and group dynamics. Skote utilizes the unpredictability of public interventions and the accompanying documentation to evoke an alternate universe that blurs the boundaries between visual art and theater, audience and performer, fiction and fact. “Produce. Consume. Discard. Are you buying?”
Next up on the B/D Interview (Chat) Roulette is master of disguises Joseph Gillette. Joseph continues to explore the ocean depths as well as D E E P S P A C E in his Party Food performance series. Starting today I’ll be posting interviews I’ve conducted with artists participating in the live video/performance art show I am curating, presenting itself in it’s entirety and in REAL LIFE 3D SPACE this weekend. Not only are the videos colliding, so are the performers- meeting minds from Berlin, Canada, Colorado, the 310, 818, and 323, holler! This will also give me a great opportunity to showcase (you should really you know… come to the event) everyone’s work because it’s an awesome roster of young artists crazy enough to come and do this. I also want to thank Megan, my partner in this comedy duo, and all the artists as well.
Megan May Daalder is an instigator of social experiments and a self-styled guinea pig. She has a BA from UCLA’s Design Media Arts department, but most of what she knows has been passed down from her radical Dutch ancestors and a Texan pinball wizard.
Window display magic by Jiggery Pokery (joint effort by Anna Lomax and Lauren Davies) takes retail photography to a whole new level!
Graphic designer and art director Albert Exergian’s humorous take on popular TV series “minimizes” the concept of each show into 2-3 colors and shapes. Remember old Penguin Classics book covers? This is the revamped modern sitcom version!
Danish-icelandic Olafur Eliasson has done it again! “Your chance encounter” is showing at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan. His intent to make his work engaging and relevant in the tailored museum space brings the institution to life. The rooms and corridors are transformed through his use of light, mirrors, shadow, color, wind and fog. Eliasson re-proposes the idea of the art museum as not just simply a building we go into to see art removed from society, but as more of a public space with the potential to engage society and the urban environment. If you’ve had the “chance encounter” with Olafur’s new installation, let us know what you think- was he successful in doing so?
