Derek Aylward

I am in love with Derek Aylward’s use of mixed media and flat renderings that create these amazingly haunting images that are just congested with expression and mood.

Jesse Fillingham

stgeorge_blog

Jesse Fillingham is an emerging illustrator who holds burgers, mythology, and unicorns close to his heart. His work holds a lot of energy, humor, and powerful storytelling. I especially love his series on mythological hunters.

Magnus Pettersson

Magnus Pettersson… is a name I would want if I were a guy. He is also an editorial photographer working from Berlin. While I do enjoy his portraits, it’s his personal portfolio that I am very interested in. This is because the people in his work appear transient within their environment – they just dissolve into the atmosphere.

Mark Alsweiler

Mark Alsweiler, an emerging artist in Sydney, just finished one of his exhibitions over at Nine Lives Gallery in Brisbane. He gains inspiration from his personal interests (immediately you can notice the influence of American Indian, Western, and Mexican imagery) to create a symbolic body of work. I am really enjoying his skull paintings and his love of pattern making.

E. V. Day

When I walk down the aisle someday, I don’t think I would mind my constricting, and stuffy wedding dress to blow up like a grenade… just like the installation of artist E.V. Day has put together. E.V. enjoys using delicate, fragile materials and transforming them into visions of war, sex, and violence. An act towards the exploding of sexual stereotypes.

San Francisco based artist, Kevin E. Taylor, creates incredible and symbolic paintings that also have a certain sense of humor. I am pretty excited about some of his religiously themed paintings. There is a strong idea of creation vs. construction going on in some of his recent work.

Rachel Wolfe

It was a relaxing way to start my day off with some of Rachel Wolfe’s photography. Her work reminds me of some of my favorite Sigur Rós songs, it starts off quiet, serene, but loud in the vibrations of either storytelling or sense of nostalgia. Some of my favorites of her work are Liminal Metanoia and Eleven Winter.
