Beautiful/Decay is excited to release the Spring ’09 line, hitting stores as we speak! The new season features iconic graphics from Beautiful/Decay Magazine Issue Y featured cover artist, Jesse Auersalo, and the hyper-colored psychedelic visions of previously featured artist Oliver Hibert. Designer James Callahan returns to the fold with some new, head-exploding graphics, along with a broad array of multitalented artists and designers.
David Shaw, one of the featured geniuses in issue Z, is opening his solo exhibition on april 30th in the Bowery. its the second of three exhibitions Feature inc. has curated on the theme “psycholoptical”.
Nick Blinko is considered an outsider artist. He also leads the relic punk band Rudimentary Peni. No one knows much about him other than a few smapshots of him and a few documents recording the time he spent in a psychiatric ward as a youth. subsequently, he believes that the anti-psychotics prescribed to him obstruct his creative impulses and spends long periods off of his medication, recording and creating detailed compositions of faces, coffins, figures, handwritten notes. I think appreciating his work helps if you are familiar with his music too. Surprise! he never made a website either.
Katelyn Reece Farstad is a fine artist currently based in Weimar, Germany studying at Bauhaus University for a semester. She’s got a kooky blog with lots of bizarre collages, gifs, and drawings. Really fun and random.
