Beautiful/Decay and premiere website building platform Made With Color have joined forces once again to bring you exclusive artist features. Each week we join forces to bring you some of the most exciting artists and designers who use Made With Color to create their clean and sleek websites. This week we’re excited to bring you the mind-altering and dreamlike music video by Brian Irving.
“Eyes Wide” is the new single and video from Brian Irving, aka Brian Brater, the co-founder of the legendary Rawkus Records (Black Star, Talib Kweli, Pharoah Monch, Company Flow, Big L and more) and responsible for developing artists like Frank Ocean collaborator Om’mas Keith, Dr. Luke and for starting the media network and website Uproxx.com.
Irving’s first release is a lush conscious neo-psychedelic experience, drawing comparisons to Tame Impala and Pink Floyd. His debut album Radiant Things is set for a July 16 release date featuring cover art by one of our favorite painters Wendell Gladstone. The video, produced by Los Angeles design agency Something In The Universe is inspired by the psychedelic energy of Captain Murphy and Tampa Impala videos as well as the imagery and style of assume vivid astro focus and London’s 14 Hour Technicolor Dream.
Irving has to say this about his new video, “The ‘Eyes Wide’ animation and drawings have a beautiful lucid dream-like quality, like an amazing planetarium light show, or an assume vivid astro focus video or installation. The song beautifully complements the video: both the imagery and music are soaked with delays and reverb-like quality – the symbolic imagery of open spaces, one-eyed fantasy, and psychedelic big fish perfectly reflect the “wet” yet dynamic sound of my guitar/synth processing and pulsing electric bass lines.”
Beautiful/Decay is returning to the art t-shirt game by collaborating with Blood is the New Black on a new line of limited edition tees featuring our favorite artists.
Beautiful/Decay hand picked each of the artists in this t-shirt series, they are available on the B/D shop for a limited time. Once they are gone, they are gone forever! See the complete lineup after the jump.
Italian based artist team, Carnovsky, unveiled their RGB Fabulous Landscapes during Milan Design Week 2013. Their digital fresco’s were printed using an innovative technique by Italian company graphicreport. In plain light the landscapes, figures, architecture and atmospheres vibrate and the images are tangled with one another.
But when red, blue or green light is applied to the digital fresco’s a whole different series of pictures emerge. In the piece Atmospheric N. 1 the sky seems to be in a flux of sunrise, sunset and storm as the lighting changes.
In Landscape N.1 a room that seems to go back into infinity is taken over by a lush green landscape which then gives way to a centuries old battle scene.
Both the technique and the imagery are compelling and together the juxtaposition creates an ethereal and haunting effect. (via)
Ever been caught with your pants down? LG’s new video Stage Fright- So Real It’s Scary, set out to do just that. LG’s new video is a followup to their 2012 viral hit “So Real It’s Scary,” in which elevator passengers got the scare of their life when the floor started to disintegrate before their eyes.
LG’s new video once again begs the question, is LG’s new IPS picture quality is so high it can fool the human eye? In their new video, it seems so, as they surprise men with with a realistic game of peeping tom on LG’s IPS 21:9 UltraWide monitors installed in an otherwise normal seeming men’s restroom.
Our friends over at Lost At E Minor have just launched their sleek new site. We at B/D know all the hard work that goes into a site re-design and we’re loving LAEM’s new look. When you cover visual content it’s important to let the images shine and that’s just what LAEM’s redesign does. You can read about their redesign process here and go check out their new site.
I’m happy to present second installment of photographs from our amazing European trip with our friends over at Royal Talens And Canson. If you remember we started our trip in Paris and made our way over to Amsterdam, stopping along the way to check out all the museums, galleries, and sights that each city offered.
We started our first day in Amsterdam with a boat tour of the canals to get acquainted with the many tiny streets and canals that zig zag throughout the city. Along the way we saw many amazing examples of dutch architecture, design, street art and of course Houseboats!
