Santtu Mustonen – 2011 Flow Festival

Santtu Mustonen, an Amsterdam based graphic designer / illustrator / trippy-gif-maker, that we featured a couple years ago has an all new portfolio bursting with strange shapes, wild lines, and funky color combinations that will make you poke your computer’s screen. This project in particular, a series of illustrated pieces for the 2011 Flow Festival (in collaboration with TSTO), caught our eye. More after the jump…

Typographic Party Time: Alex Witjas

Take a cleanly-gridded typographic poster, drag it along to an 80s reunion party, throw a handful of rainbow confetti in the air… and then you’ll get the work of Alex Witjas. A graduate of the Graphic Design program at Pratt Institute, Alex currently works as a graphic designer for Urban Outfitters, and has a portfolio full of fun stuff. So Many Wizards – “Inner City” directed by Greg Ruben

Artist, Designer, Filmmaker, and all-around dude-that-makes-stuff, Greg Ruben, just released a new music video project for So Many Wizards‘ “Inner City.” The video follows an average joe dressed in business-usual as he embarks on the ultimate lunch break in and around a lot of unique spots in Los Angeles. The film’s aesthetic approach is really hypnotizing. You’ll have to see for yourself after the jump…

View/Source exhibition at Think Tank Gallery

VIEW / SOURCE presents two conflicting projects that deal with the phenomenon of “source code” hidden within our everyday experiences. Friedland’s work explores the integration of cross-lateral human understandings, while Manos’ systems aim to speculate their irrelevance. Two B/D featured artists will be presenting work at Think Tank Gallery in downtown LA this thursday! Aurelia Friedland (B/D feature), and Matt Manos (Book 1, Future Perfect, and B/D feature).

Opening: 12/08/11, 7-11 PM
By Appointment through 12/17/11

Jayne Vidheecharoen’s Portals

What if you could stick your hand into a little box and all of a sudden find yourself in a virtual, parallel, world? Well, thanks to designer and maker, Jayne Vidheecharoen, you might be able to quite soon! The project is still undergoing development, but the prototype already shows a lot of promise, and Jayne is currently running a kickstarter campaign to help develop it further. Check it out in action after the jump…

Brandon Wilson’s Scanography

I’m loving this scanographic imagery by Portland based artist, Brandon F. Wilson. While Wilson does not explain his specific process on his website, I like to imagine the artist running through vast landscapes in Oregon, with a large scanner, to create these distorted images. More after the jump!

Tonalis Luminous – Salvador Orara

Tonalis Luminous (also known as tink-tinks) is a new breed of tonal flowers discovered by sound artist, Salvador Orara. Sensitive to light, each flower has it’s own sonic personality and mood which requires careful attention. Check out a video of the Tonalis Luminous in action after the jump.
