Pierre Bolide

Bolide4

From what I can tell, Pierre Bolide likes a few things: Space. Raging vein mutant muscles. And imaginary feuds with Chuck Norris. The only way I can describe these are like fan club illustrations of a long lost Nintendo video game that totally ruled and I played so much I saw the shapes on the back of my eyelids when I went to sleep at night, or some totally awesome TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) spin-off series based on one of  Shredder’s obscure, but totally awesome minions. Found on B/D’s very own Creative Pic Pool!

Love-Padlocks

Love_Padlocks

In the spirit of love, love, love craaazy love, here’s an interesting little trend of the heart I found via Buzzfeed. 30 years ago, in the center of a little town called Pecs in the south of Hungary, lovers clamped padlocks to a wrought-iron fence as a symbol of their commitment to one another. Since that time, needless to say the trend has caught on around the world. I find the whole thing rather interesting, it reminds me a little bit of the padlock Nancy gave Sid as a symbol of their junkie-tainted pirate love gone bad. How does one propose the proverbial love-lock? “Honey, I think it’s time we head down to the town center and clamp a lock on it, what do you say!” What’s bizarre to me is the image of clunky, over-locked bars and gates, weighed down by the sheer magnitude of their unwieldy weight, somehow doesn’t look so sweet. It actually kind of looks like something your psychotic ex-girlfriend would do right before she hacked into your Facebook account, found out you’re a cheater, and  slashed your tires.

Sisters of the Black Moon

02

Sisters of the Black Moon are like a sartorial witch’s coven that has astrally projected itself to infinitum to the dark side of the rainbow. I know that technically, they’re an eBay shop hawk(wind)ing mystically beautiful vintage pieces- but I love that they have taken that to a whole new interstellar dimension. With amazing photography by Alexandra Valenti, they are a dark force to be reckoned with. Reminiscent of Frank Zappa’s GTO’s, or an extremely heshin’ sorcery-inspired proto-metal band, these gals will have you sayin’ come to the sabbath in no time!

Miriam Brumer

Holy weird marker on mylar drawings! I love Miriam Brumer’s half stoner, half new age hippie-dreamscape, half crystal batik visions…oh wait that’s one too many halves…but considering her work is trying to channel a new planar dimension, I figure following ordinary mathematics would be boring anyways.

Christiane Haase

Christiane Haase creates such strangely sexual/magical ceramic amulets. There were so many wonderful creature creations I had to post a million pictures after the jump…you really have to see her work in context with the other pieces to appreciate the full effect.
