I love the idea of these expansive macrocosmos unfolding from the microcosm of a single point of light…kind of baffling! I remember using a pinhole in one of my first beginning photography classes and the most I got from the lens-less, shutter-less coffee can cam was blurry black and white blobs at best.

Caro Suerkemper’s graceless ladies (you know who I am) are somehow classical and vulgar at the same time- perhaps because she uses mediums typically reserved for refined culture or antiquities, such as fine china and delicate gouache wash paintings to convey her gals, usually in awkward stages of self or imposed bondage.
Austin Eddy will be showcasing new works at Golden Gallery this month in his exhibition “I feel better already, or at least I think I do”. His works have taken a turn from the psychedelic bong rips and magic hands playing mystical flutes and 8-balls to a slightly more….refined direction, should I say? (Not that the grace of a glitter-ridden bong with a face is unrefined.) His works now seem to draw more from the compositional tropes, color work and subject matter of Matisse, depicting room interiors, still lives, patternwork and flowers in pots.

Super Intern Mike Hahn not only sported an irreverently dashing upper lip duster during his entire stay here at Beautiful/Decay, but graced us with tawdry tales of his mustachioed musings all while helping us at the office here with the..how you say…joie de vivre pictured above! Yes, he really wore button downs, pastel argyle sweater vests, candy striper twill Bermuda summer shorts, Dockers boating shoes and an American flag cape each day to work! Thank you for all your hard work here Mike, we will miss you as clean shaven face misses the warmth of a well manicured ‘stache in the dead of a Minnesota winter!
