See those reflections shining in the chrome? Cheryl Kelley is a lady who strictly paints super awesome cars. California dreamin’!
Just found Jesse Draxler’s pics on the B/D Creative Pic Pool. Every now and again I like to check out what our readers got goin’ on. The premise of these images is super simple: vintage photo + black face paint + colored background. But the result kind of looks like funky super hero trading cards that you wish you found at a flea market!
There is something eccentric, smug, cranky, entitled, curious, and charismatic about Brad Woodfin’s little goat-guy that I can’t help but compare to my little pug, Ziggy. He has a habit of jumping on the B/D ottoman to look out the window whenever something is “going on” downstairs, and this is pretty much what he looks like when he does it. Wonderful paintings of fauna by Brad Woodfin.
I recently got an email from Skinner, one of my fave heshin’ heavy metal artists and also B/D Book 3 participant, about his show at White Walls gallery this Saturday. It read: “There will be over twenty of my new works, mystical hand crafted masks, and twisted and intricate sculptures, all of which will most definitely rock your world.” ‘Nuff said. Wish I could be there in person, but if you’re in SF, this is not to be missed!
Today I was perusing the website of Proyectos Ultravioleta, a Guatemala based gallery, and found the work by Radames “Juni” Figueroa. Besides a sweet painting of a mustachiod Dracula rocking a cape and a Misfits shirt (dream babe, hello!) I found the above readymade installation. Lo and behold, I discovered a Beautiful/Decay apparel shirt we did with Rob Thom shirt we did from four years ago! Sweet! While we’ve since sold out of that shirt, Radames, if you’re listening, we did a re-make of the Bad Brains classic cover art work (now re-christened Decayed Brains) which is for sale on our online shop. If you care to make another installation work out of our T-shirts. Really great work….check out more after the jump!
Four score and seven years ago, shortly after college, I worked a certain retail job at a company that shall not be named (American Apparel) and had the pleasure of working with Max Wittert. Max was famous store-wide for his amazing and humorous doodles lampooning everyone who came into the store…and all of us employees. Max…I would kill to find those illustrations again, do you still have them? Anyway, we ran into each other again after many a long year at the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend, and much to my delight I discovered he’s now following his heart working as an illustrator. Wonderful work!
