We have just put the finishing touches on the re-launched online portfolio for Something in The Universe, replete with features as sleek as the side of an interstellar alien space capsule. We’ve added a ton of new projects to the roster, including designing a tour website for legendary grunge-rockers Alice in Chains, the Deftones & Mastodon, beer-flavored ice cream (and full service marketing and design) for Colt 45, logo, design & coding for Velvet Hammer, and a ton more.

Be sure to stop by- we guarantee you’ll be seeing stars. Drop us a comment and let us know what you think!

And, if you want SITU to work for you, be sure to email us and get in touch! We are currently available to turn your idea into…. Something. Whether it’s a simple business card design, or the entire re-branding of your website, no job is too big or too little for us!

Banksy Sucks?

BANKSYsucks

We received an email today with the subject line: “anonymity is knowing everybody that knows of you” and the mysterious URL in the body: banksysucks.com. Followed the link to find the not-so-subtle .gif splash page above with a cheery midi rendition of the Cheers tune. (Presumably for its hook, “where everyone knows your name.”) Someone doesn’t like Bansky, I take it. Whether you love him or loathe him, Banksy has been the closest thing to this decade’s controversial Warholian art star. The site above clearly takes a jab at the fact that the identity of the internationally-famous British street artist is still “unknown.” Is Banksy still anonymous and “street” when the likes of Jude law and Brangelina shell out cool millions on his work? What do you think?

Creatures of the Deep

Picture 2

The deep sea has been immersed in total, complete darkness since the dawn of time….shrouded in mystery, blotted in the black of inky…ok, forgive me. Claire Nouvian has just produced a new photographic book called “The Deep: Extraordinary Creatures of the Abyss,” and it kind of blew my mind (hence instigating my attempted, British-accented attempt at a movie narration/poetry.) In crystalline detail, some of the strangest alien sculptures, etheral orbs of light, and mosntrous creatures have been exposed. Seeing as there as some estimated 10-30 million creatures down there we still haven’t discovered, in one of earth’s most plentiful habitats, I can only say…I can’t wait for the future.

Sisters of the Black Moon Star in Black Mountain

I’m proud to say my witchy sisters & Texan friends, Sisters of the Black Moon, have recently “moonlighted” (in a black sense, of course) as the starry-eyed starring leading ladies in Black Mountain’s new music video, Old Fangs. Like a Nightshade-induced hallucination from a Belladonna dilated third eye, these sultry sirens seduce and induce cosmic visions and beyond.

And, if you love their sartorial sorcery, be sure to check out their website- they hawk their magick wares on an epic eBay store, The talented Miss Alecia Marcum of the coven, as if she isn’t fantastic enough already, also does styling work.

Awkward Family Pet Photos

AwkwardFamilyPet

Something about the above photo deeply scares me. What is going on in this neo-geo triangulation of little white fluffy dogs and khaki Dockers? If the four cardinal points of the earth come together, in the form of directional poodles, will a Great Spirit arise from this cosmic canine square? Is it too early in the morning to consider these poodles to be tiny mythological shamans?

Anyway, the site Awkward Family Pet Photos shares a delightfully awkward bounty of photographic gems. Many raise such philosophical questions about the nature of the universe as aforementioned, and others include pet-human dopplegangers, subtle strangling, lasers and nudity. As anyone knows, along with my friend Sandra, I am one of the biggest CDLz (Crazy Dog Ladiez) that ever walked the earth. But these people may have taken the cake. Ziggy, be glad your mom is at least not this crazy.
