It should come as no surprise that we love a bit of decay in anything beautiful and Heikki Leis’ gorgeously lit  series Afterlife is the perfect marriage of the two. His photos of rotting food and  macro zooms of mold and decay have enough beauty and decay for the most diehard Cult Of Decay member.  Long live Beautiful Decay!

Born in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, Hengki Koentjoro studied film and photography at California’s Brooks Institute. Now once again residing in Indonesia, this fine art photographer’s careful captures reflect the essence of his homeland. His black-and-white images perfectly showcase the natural beauty of the landscape, from its cloud-rimmed cinder cones to its wave-roiled seas.

Loving these bizarre and grotesque photographs of shrink wrapped couples by Japanese artist Photographer Hal. They are beautiful, macabre,  and frightening all at once.

At first glance the above image might look like a digital collage where a simple cat doodle is drawn atop a photograph of an interior. But if you look closer you’ll see that the cat image is actually painstakingly drawn with tape in perspective to create the illusion of flatness. It seems talent is coming at a younger age these days. At only 22 years old South Afcrian Paul Ward is a photographer to watch and follow with more work in his portfolio than most seasoned vets. Peruvian artist Cecilia Paredes gives new meaning to the term “wallflower.” In her recent collection of photographs, entitled “Landscapes,” Paredes seamlessly disappears into a dizzying array of patterned wallpapers, using only paint and, in some cases, simple costumes to complete the transformation. Paredes’ self-painting is so precise that, oftentimes, the only hint of her presence is a flash of sleek brown hair or a pair of gleaming white eyes peering out from the background. Through this disappearing act, Paredes explores themes of displacement and migration, illustrating the difficulties of blending in to new surroundings without completely casting off one’s roots.
