Moment Factory’s Crazy Video Projection Piece On the Huge Facade of a Catalan Cathedral

Recently, Canadian installation/performance studio Moment Factory put on a really ambitious show in Barcelona. The group designed and executed a video projection piece using the facade of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia cathedral. Looks incredible. MF pulled off the piece three nights in a row during the recent La Merce Festival. It would kill my brain if I tried to engineer a video projection piece using a structure as complex as the Sagrada Familia. More images after the jump. (via)

CANADA (NSFW)

CANADA is a trio of filmmakers, Luis Cervero, Nicolás Méndez & Lope Serrano. Located in Barcelona, they bump out mysteriously sexy music videos that feel like a mix between an Alejandro Jodorowsky film and an American Apparel ad. According to their info page on their website, “…CANADA has pursued excellence in different projects, advertising, fashion, music promotional videos, television and cultural events.” On top of all that fun, they were also guest writers and did an interview with Its Nice That, which helped to shine a bit of light on their interests and personalities. So far, I haven’t seen a video created by them that wasn’t worth watching, but my heart will always belong to the first one I ever saw, El Guincho’s Bombay. You’ll find El Guincho, along with Scissor Sisters, Battles, and other music videos below. Feast.

Malark’s work on the streets

The graphics-heavy street work of Malark, found primarily in and around London and Barcelona, dominates space with color block characters of quirk. But it’s not Malark’s attractive, sharp-toothed chroma buddies that make this stuff so special. What is so attractive about this artist is that he gets up relentlessly, and on all surfaces- walls, cars, trucks, storefronts; and, benevolently, our brains.

Osman Granda

Osman Granda is a designer and animator working out of Barcelona, Spain. He has some kickass detailed illustrations that are just flat out fun.

Barcelona based fashion/advertising photographer and director, Eudes De Santana, originally went to school for graphic design. While finishing his degree, he worked on photographic commissions for fashion editorials, catalogs, and advertising campaigns. His work, exuding hip energy and sex, has us fantasize for this sort of lifestyle.

Alvaro Sanchez-Montañes

namibiandesertindoors5
Alvaro Sanchez-Montañes, a Barcelona based photographer, decided to explore the abandoned homes and ghost towns of the Namib desert after reading about the deserted diamond mines in Namibia. In this series, Desert Indoors, Alvaro documents inside these empty homes time etching itself into the paint-chipped walls, and observes the desert conquering over any bit of memory or clue of human habitation.

Don't Panic Media - Heroes Issue : max-o-matic

In his portfolio, describing the above piece,’max’ explains, “My heroes are the heroes of socialism, Marx and Engels. And, as all heroes, they are there to protect us from chaos. And, as all heroes do, they fail.”

Illustrator, graphic designer, artist, Max-O-Matic, from Barcelona, seems to take his work as seriously as honest, heartfelt parody. You’re sure to find a little cynicism and humor in his mixed media projects, wherever they may be viewed, in editorials, on skateboards, or in sculpture. check out how he uses illustration and collage…

Pedro Paricio

Pedro Paricio recently sent me his catalog in the mail- some nice, colorful works from Barcelona. My fave is the study after Francis Bacon above- more works on his site!
