Welcome to the second week of Click To Collect, Beautiful/Decay’s new campaign to help art lovers start their collection of original artists works at affordable prices. Our second featured artist is Ben Tegel whose gorgeously rendered drawings have graced the pages of our print publication, apparel, and website dozens of times. Ben’s iconic Helter Skelter drawing which depicts the faces of Charles manson through the ages was one of the most popular  Beautiful/Decay t-shirt graphics ever made. Now you can purchase the original piece and add it to your collection today! See the rest of the available work by Ben Tegel and read more about our Click To Collect project after the jump!

The final interview in our 10-part “Art Works Every Time” series is with artist Ben Tegel.  We’ve actually collaborated with Ben extensively, as he has also designed for Beautiful/Decay Apparel, contributing the shirt graphics for the “Manson”“Greetings from LA.”, and “Greetings from N.Y.C.” shirts. Can’t believe the opening is already tomorrow- hope to see all of you out there, it’s gonna be a great night!

Ben holding one of his drawings for "Art Works Every Time"

Have you met Ben? Ben stopped by the Beautiful/Decay headquarters yesterday to drop off work for the upcoming Art Works Every Time exhibit. You may recognize Ben’s style from two of his recent Beautiful/Decay Apparel T-shirt designs: Greetings From New York & Greetings From Los Angeles. Ben’s been busting out some new paparazzi-inspired paintings for the exhibit. I had the pleasure of listening to him chat about his recent explorations and process, and the importance of a high-quality brush. You’ll be able to see all of Ben’s submissions next Saturday, June 12 at the Art Works Every Time opening reception at LA’s Synchronicity Gallery. Check out some more behind-the-scenes shots after the jump. Thanks Ben!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the book signing/release party of Book 1! We were lucky to have three of our featured artists, Ben Tegel, David Jien and Kyle Thomas customizing each and every cover of Beautiful/Decay with an original piece of artwork. There were even some collaborative, exquisite corpse style drawings between the three artists! It was great to meet all of the artists, designers and Beautiful/Decay fans that attended. Visit the Beautiful/Decay Flickr page to view photos from the event!

Design duo Ben Tegel and Brian Romero combine their mighty illustrative skills to form the collective 21st Century Filth. Their pop punch vulgar street grit sensibility calls to mind the cantankerous and misogynistic godfather of underground comix, R. Crumb. Check out more of their stuff at their website; linked above.
