In this new series, the subject is invited to her apartment where she photographs them in her bathroom. The experience, Sharma says, was one in which, “.. every new person in the shower became a brand new allegory. With every new visit I had a new protagonist; A new plot and a new parable of hurt and heroic that came undone under that shower – My Shower.”

Manjari Sharma was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She has worked as a photojournalist with many respected magazines in India as well as been featured on the cover of many publications. Her work can be seen on her website.

Found these awesome Indian book cover designs from a couple decades ago on A Journey Round My Skull, my go-to blog for all vintage graphic design. Unfortunately, the designers for each of the book covers weren’t listed. You can see the fronts and backs of each book (I only posted either front or back here) and it’s really amazing to see how well integrated the whole of the design is and how designers during that time were just mainly illustrators.

More than anything, these photos just made me want to travel and for lack of a better word, experience. They’re from a variety of sources, check out The Boston Globe for all their credits. Holi is celebrated in India as a welcoming of Spring, and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. What that translates to in action is an enthusiastic dropping of inhibitions, as people chase each other and playfully splash colorful paint, powder and water on each other. People also attend bonfires to commemorate the story of Prahlada, a Hindu figure and devout follower of Lord Vishnu who prevailed over his father and the demoness Holika with the power of his devotion.

From illustrator and photographer Matt Lee, here are some photos of film posters around South India. It’s interesting how foreign film industries so close follow American trends. I expected to see posters that are more in the style of traditional 70s Bollywood posters (basically nicely illustrated montages of multiple characters, each in an action pose, and a cool look treatment of the title), but it seems that just as Hollywood has moved on since its days of ornately illustrated movie posters, so has India. So instead of illustrations we have Photoshop jobs.

Sheena Matheiken decided to start The Uniform Project in May 2009 by pledging to wear the same uniform dress for the next 365 days. She has 7 identical dresses, 1 for each day of the week, and the only thing that will change are her vintage, hand-made, or second-hand accessories and how far her creativity will take each outfit.

The Uniform Project is aimed at raising money for the Akanksha Foundation, a movement that hopes to change the lives of many children in India with the gift of education. As someone who was raised in India and had no choice but to wear uniforms to school, Sheena Matheiken has now chosen to rewind to the days of uniforms for a good cause.
