Gerry Judah’s Huge Automobile Installations

For a while now, Gerry Judah has produced extremely large-scale outdoor installations. And he’s become pretty good at it. Especially notable are his automobile-themed works, which suspend scale-sized model cars high in the air as part of whirling, vertigo-inducing sculpture work. Kinda like Steve Tobin’s work, except with horsepower. (via)

Olga Ziemska’s Natural Wonderlands

Olga Ziemska’s artistic statement appears as a poem on her website. And one of her lines, “The body is nothing without that which surrounds it” is especially important when it comes to art. The Ohio based sculptor has been refocusing her energy into fully serving it too – seeing as how most of her work in the last couple years has involved outdoor installations, which can incorporate a lot more people encompassing them than the few invited into collector’s homes. However, what I like most about her recent work, other than its ability to be shared, is that it’s made up of mainly organic materials sourced from nature. (via)

Florentijn Hofman

dushi01

“Dushi” is the title of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman‘s current exhibition, on display until July 4th, 2009 at Gallery West in the Hague, Netherlands. The show is comprised of gigantic stuffed animals “where the change of scale completely changes their function and feeling.” The giant animal motif is not a new one for Hofman, as you’ll see after the jump.
