Pearl C. Hsiung creates really awesome Manga inspired cosmic scenes of fantasy worlds with enamel on canvas. Hsiung was born in Taiwan in 1973 and lives and works in Los Angeles. You can catch some of her work on display at the Steve Turner Contemporary art gallery from October 16-November 13, 2010. Check her out!
LA based artist Pearl C. Hsiung paints out-of-this-world scenes that are just breath taking. It’s almost like you are entering a surrealist realm. A lot of her work incorporates heavy use of spray paint and stencils. Her latest series, Never Ends, will be showing at the Steve Turner Contemporary later this year. It will show case her newest painting, installations, and video art.
I’ve seen a lot of great paintings by Pearl in the past and was excited to feature her work in Issue: V of Beautiful/Decay. However I hadn’t seen much of her work until I stumbled onto her website today. The videos are hilarious and tie into her paintings nicely. This new discovery does make me wonder whether the video work came first or the paintings?
