Telephone Blue- Tonight At Synchronicity Space Los Angles

For their exhibition, Telephone Blue, taking place at Synchronicity Space on April 20 – May 19, Aaron Anderson, Eric Carlson and Crystal Quinn (founding members of the artist collective Hardland/Heartland) continue their formal practice of intuitive collaboration to produce narratives of playful allegories and coded symbols that materialize as drawing, video, and sculpture. This exhibition will exist as an extension, literally and figuratively speaking. Physical work existing in a digital world that happens to be an extension of our physical world.

In addition to the physical gallery show the three artists have collaborated with LA artist Spencer Longo on a web based project that lives on the Synchronicity website called LA Internet. See LA Internet at www.syncspacela.com at anytime and visit the shows opening tonight from 7-10pm at 713 Heliotrope, LA, CA 90029.

LYNDSEY LESH: THE ART OF THE RATTLING WALL- This Saturday!

B/D pal  Lyndsey Lesh recently created a series of illustrations for The Rattling Wall, a literary journal published by the PEN Center USA & Narrow Books. To kick off the books release Lyndsey has teamed up with our favorite alternative art venues Synchronicity Space for a one night show of artworks from the book. Come see a selection of works by Ms. Lesh, get a signed copy of the book, and eat some free Strawberry Chardonnay Ice cream from LA’s best ice cream shop Scoops! If doing all the artwork for the book wasn’t enough Lyndsey decided to add more work to her plate by creating a writing and drawing process blog of her very own called Off Thee Wall. Read more about Off The Wall and see more of Lyndsey’s illustrations after the jump.

Los Angeles Zine Fest- This Weekend!

As many of you know Beautiful/Decay was started in 1996 as a black and white zine. We may have gone full color and grown in distribution but at the core we’re still a DIY operation that holds true to all of our original zine roots. That’s why I was so excited to hear that a group of talented LA creatives had put together the LA Zine Fest taking place this Sunday (2/19/2012). Dozens of past B/D featured artists are taking part and they have some great panels (including our pal Katie from Synchronicity Space and Henry Rollins)  lined up for you to enjoy. I just wish I had known about it sooner so we could have taken part in some way. Perhaps next year!

I’ll be heading down to check out all the DIY goodness and I hope you will too. Watch a promo video for the fest after the jump!

PFFR-LEGACY IIX

Brooklyn based production company/art collective/band/enigma PFFR are known for their outrageous humor and lo-fi production.  They have collaborated on shows such as Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel, and the sadly short-lived Doggy Fizzle Televizzle.

If you are lucky enough to be in Los Angeles you can catch their antics next month at “Legacy IIX”. The mysterious show opens April 3rd at Synchronicity Space and runs until May 1st. Your guess is as good as mine what might happen.  Flyer for the show and other works after the cut.
