What if you could stick your hand into a little box and all of a sudden find yourself in a virtual, parallel, world? Well, thanks to designer and maker, Jayne Vidheecharoen, you might be able to quite soon! The project is still undergoing development, but the prototype already shows a lot of promise, and Jayne is currently running a kickstarter campaign to help develop it further. “Each box has a screen on the front and a gateway on the side where you can reach in with your hand. Through the magic of green screen your hand instantly appears to be in the virtual real-world of Google Streetview. And since you and your objects are now in this parallel world, real-world rules can be broken. For instance, a regular object from the real world could appear animated in this virtual one. These boxes are also connected to the internet which means you could share the space with other people.”

This is probably the best short film I have ever seen using only a camera phone. Director Thomas Hilland was asked to make the most out of Nokia N8′s smartphone camera. If the quality of the film doesn’t do it for you, I know I especially enjoyed the rotund men running around in costumes, battling each other with remote controlled dragonflies. Music was by the British band, Kap Bambino.

David Wilson directed this amazing illustrated animation music video of The Japanese Popstars, Let Go. Along with David, Keaton Henson and Andres Guzman were the illustrators behind these amazing stream of wacky, grotesque, and hypnotizing consciousness.

What do birds hallucinate about when they go on a drug berry induced psychological trip? I don’t know if any of this would be accurate, but I hope to rainbow laser toting, owl-man monster-bird it is. A gorgeous music video of Hermanos Inglesos’s “Wanderland,” designed by Kristof Luyckx and Michèle Vanparys.

Stills from New York photographer and film maker Elle Muliarchyk‘s new film project. She dressed up model Meghan Collinson in ten different disguises and sent her to different New York based psychics, filming the interactions with hidden cameras. Each costume resulted in a different fortune. The stills are more reminiscent of a beautifully styled period film than hidden camera surveillance.

Choreographer, Willi Dorner, brought together a group of artists in New York to participate in his performance piece, Bodies in Urban Space. The artists go around to different parts of Manhattan to confine themselves together into architecturally specific shapes, conveying the idea of the restrictions we face physically, emotionally, and spiritually living in such a structure dominant space.

This stop-motion animation of Tetris is just one part of French-Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond‘s project Game Over. Guillaume has also directed Space Invaders, and Pong! I haven’t heard anyone mention Pong in a long time.
